Ever since I started earning my own pay cheques, I have loved the idea of travelling, especially by air to far off places. Getting to the airport, for me, is the start of my vacation. However, with the heightened security measures in place now, the airport experience has become a little more stressful.

For at least 12 years now, my husband and I have travelled somewhere at least once a year for our vacation. For the last seven of those years, we have been part of a group of couples and have travelled to a different “all inclusive resort” every year.

Trying to keep us all together or at least know of each other’s whereabouts at the airport has been somewhat trying at times. Also of concern was being able to keep each of our travel documents together in one place as we wind through the airport and wondering if the last checkpoint was the last time we would have to dig out our boarding pass and passport until we arrived at the other end of our destination. We always had the cardboard folder from our travel agent secured with an elastic band to keep it together but usually the elastic band would disappear and I know I found I was always double checking my folder to make sure everything was still there.

It was a pleasant surprise to find, one day while shopping, a passport holder that would hold all my important travel documents, both my own and my husband’s. It could be zippered up to keep things safe and also could be worn around my neck during my journey through the airport and then was compact enough to slip into my carry on bag or purse once I was on the airplane but easily located once I arrived at my destination airport. While there are many other designs and styles of passport holders available to suit each individual taste, (as you will see in this website) the one I picked was perfect for me.

Another item that has made our day at the airport a little less stressful, is clearly identifying all of our luggage with unique tags and markings. All of our friends have unique tags on their luggage and we all recognize one another’s bags as they come down the luggage chute even though most of the luggage seems to be one of about only three colours.
